- Mystery Writing Wheel
A 45-minute workshop for kids ages 7-11or grades 3-5, and/or adults writing for this age group.
Mary Ann takes you on a mysterious adventure. Learn the three most important elements in mystery writing. Discover how one word developed into a chapter book series. Mary Ann uses the “Mystery Wheel” to show the development of the Gander’s Cove Mystery Series: SPIES, TRAITORS, and HEROES.
SPIES is set on the Homefront during WWII, and shows how kids survived the day-to-day threats of spy planes and war ships all bent on sneaking into the Cove and blowing them to smithereens. With fathers fighting in the war, mothers working outside their homes, forces younger kids to turn to older kids for role models.
